86 22-2 ccp fuel tank replacement
« on: June 06, 2019, 12:59:32 PM »
Just found that my fuel tank is covered with crystal looking crap. Boat has been used with ethanol fuel for years apparently.  Tank must leak. Do i have to cut the floor out to replace or will pulling console and hatch be enough to do it? Sick to my stomach!

Should be able to tilt the console over against the gunnel and remove the tank hatch cover.  Watch the length of the cables and wiring when you lean the console.  Should be able to slide the tank out if it's almost empty.

Should i go poly tank? I have a hard time finding ethanol free fuel.
And does anyone know the tank dimensions and where to get a new tank? Sorry for all the questions!

If you can find a poly tank that fits and has enough capacity, go for it.  If you’re reinstalling the tank in the CCP’s fuel coffin, you’ll have even fewer choices unless you’re willing to reduce capacity.

In the end most of us flirt with poly, but end up getting a custom aluminum tank made for our boats. That’s what happened to me.

Links below are for your tank. 85 gal. Phil has made a few for this Forum.
