215 explorer wiring
« on: May 13, 2019, 02:38:32 PM »
Going to be installing my stereo and point 1 gps antenna up in/on the hard top.  does anyone have any experience with pulling wiring through the pipes for the hard top?  Where does the wiring start?  Any advice you can give?  I assume I should pull the current wiring to the vhf through with a pull wire attached then pull all the new wires with the pull wire/string.  Just wondering if anyone has had success with that.

Thanks in advance.

It can be tricky.  Not sure if you have a OEM or after market hardtop.  Pull thru a good quality nylon braided rope for a pull string.  Don't skimp on the power supply wire gauge since that can be a long run up and back down the hard top.

Thanks Wingtime.  Its an OEM hard top, any idea what the route is that they usually take from the factory?  I haven't looked into it yet.
