I had a problem with my 1987 175 hp Mariner engine over heating and after a lot of work I was told to add a jack to move the engine back away from the transom and lower it more. The thinking being that the lower unit was not getting enough water in the pickup due to it being in the draft of the boats bottom. Sure enough after doing the addition of the jack plate the engine runs perfectly normal. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this situation?
