When someone can't provide any receipts or documentation for an engine overhaul, usually (choose the correct answer):
a. It was not overhauled - just some serious work done to make it run
b. They did it themselves and don't want to fess up to it
c. Their buddy Bubba or Shadetree Sam did the work using parts from some other engine (hence no receipts)
d. A combination of all of the above.
John, you probably made the right decision on this one. I would be surprised if that boat would go for $5K on eBay, but any boat is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it! The engine sounds questionable and the brown hull color is gelcoat (not paint) and is not Aquasport's best color choice. Keep your eyes open and I would bet another 200CCP will pop up = patience is a virtue after all.
Probably makes the 170 look even better. Good luck!

Gonefission & Jim,
Thanks for the input and advice you have given me. It is great to be a member of this site
I think I am better off to stick with my little 170 for now. As I said, I am looking for a CCP around the early to mid 80's. Don't want anything longer than the 22'. If you guys run across one please let me know. Thanks again, and I will keep my fingers crossed one will turn up soon

You'd like a 222 better I believe. Find a fixer upper and keep-em both
