2004 EZ Loader rebuild
« on: May 06, 2018, 05:22:53 PM »
Hi folks, I was hoping to get some thoughts on the following:

I have a 2004 Ez-Loader trailer for my 20 foot Aquasport that has been needing some TLC. The springs, hangers, equalizers and axles were pretty well rusted so I decided to replace all them all. Yes, there are other parts that need replacing as well but my wallet needs a break.

I'm running into a situation where the equalizer (both sides) is pointing upward when the trailer is sitting level. (see enclosed photos). I understand the concept of the equalizer and understand that when the trailer has the weight evenly distributed, the equalizer should be more or less horizontal to the level surface the trailer is sitting on.

I'm sure I'm missing something but the only thing I can think of is that the boat is sitting too far up on the trailer and needs to come back some and this would even the weight out and ultimately even out the equalizer. Now, how do I determine how much? Trial and error?

The winch post would also need to come back some. How the heck do I do this with the boat out of the water and on the trailer? I know, I know, looks like I will need to put the boat in the water at the local boat ramp and work on the trailer.

Any thoughts, advise, comments, jokes, insults (if that's your thing) are welcome.

I thought someone smarter than me on this subject would have replied....sorry.
I had the same problem and I had to manually slide the boat (my 230) fore and aft to get them level.  I also needed to make sure I had enough tongue weight.  It was a little work but they are level now.
Are you going to get some fenders on the trailer?
