1978 Johnson 115 HP

Need help figuring out what a part is called.   I was dumb and didn't take a picture so I have to describe.   

The idle is controlled by a small arm that is adjustable.   There is a metal shaped rod that connects between the piece that moves with the throttle control and the piece that is on the engine.  It is held in place on the engine side by a small little plastic connector which the rod pops into.   That little plastic piece shattered.   We're dead on the trailer until we get this figured out  ... at least we had a great cruise tonight ... actually got out of the rivers and into open ocean ... the biggest waves we had to jump to get there though were from tugs pushing a freighter.   They had cresting 3-4 foot waves.   Up, down, bang ... was a pucker moment, but we made it through.

It's called an Accelerated Lever Rod, or at least it is for Yamaha motors.  The plastic part may or may not be replaceable.  With the link provided above, use your engines model/year to determine the name and part number.  Worst case is the plastic part is not replaceable, thus you'll need to replace by buying the lever rod with the 2 plastic parts attached.

We have done a little work (bought a manual from West Marine) and have identified the broken culprit as the plastic piece that holds the spark control rod to the eccentric.   Thanks for the link, went quickly to bookmarks.   :-)
