19'6 Flatback??

Came across this classified ad for a '74 19'6 "Flatback".  First, I thought AS discontinued Flatback models in '72-'73.  Second, were the 19'6 models from '68 to '72 produced as flatback?  I thought only the 22-2 models were flatback, the 19'6 and 170 models 12º.  Please advise.  Thanks.

People put all kinds of words in the ad to get a hit on a search.
That's a 12 degree model - first hint is the fuel tank being in the belly.  The fuel tanks on the (60's and up through '71) models were inside the console (as well as the early 170s).
The 191 models were the ones that had the unique bottom that was near-flat and were made through '71 (same last year of the 222 FB).

I agree with ya above in bold.  Thanks for clearing it up.  Interesting to learn the 191 models were not 12º.  Were the 19'6 and 19'1 produced concurrently?  Strange, if so, to produce 2 different model hulls of very similar length.  One thing is for sure, the 19'1 models are more rare to find on classifieds than the 22'2 Flatback.

Looking at the 19'1 documentation in the gallery, seen below, it's kinda confusing.  There are two 19'1 models listed with exact same specs, but having two different model names (Gull, Osprey).  What gives?

The first year of the 196 was '72, the last year of the 191 was '71.
The two models of the 191 were defined, in essence, by where the console was placed - I guess it's all about the room behind the console? I'm sure the boats ran a little different since the console had the fuel tank inside it and they were moving that weight forward and aft.
The Gull had the console up tight and even on top of the casting deck a little.

Definitely a pretty rare hull.

Thanks Rick.  I now have a better understanding of the differences between these 2 hulls.  Gotta say, the 191 with its forward mounted center console looks a bit strange.  Kinda resembles a commercial netting boat, with the cockpit up front and a huge amount of open space aft of console.

Which I like.  Have you ever seen a restored 191 with the console repositioned aft, as where most other models have the console?  And if so, what was done about the fuel tank?  Is there room below the deck of a 191 to accommodate a tank between the stringers?  I assume like the 170, 196, and 222, the hull is sensitive to shifting too much weight aft.  Wondering that since the 191 was built with the console and fuel tank so far forward, so to was the COG.

The 191 Osprey model has the console and tank moved aft a couple feet. Look in the Osprey rebuilds forum and find the 191 sub forum - lots of answers in there.
