1974 19' 6" Replace top side fuel tank with permanent tank

Hi All- In a few months I am going to have my floor replace on the 19 6 and am thinking about having a permanent fuel tank installed in the hull. I was wondering if anyone has installed an off the shelf Moeller fuel tank below deck and also if anyone has any opinions on the relocation.

I am fine with around a 27 to 35 gallon tank for the boating I do and the engine I run ( 2017 Suzuki 140)

If anyone has any dimensions for a tank as well that would be appreciated as well.

I thought the 74 had an under sole tank - could your boat be an earlier model?  Check the "stamp"' in the outside of the transom - last 2 digits is the year.

Hey Rick- It certainly could have been in the belly- At some point the last owners changed out the floor ( and did a not so great job) so maybe they moved it then.  HIN on my girl is ASPE838M74B

Unfortunately you don't have a tank to extract and take dimensions.  Hopefully someone who has your model year hull will chime in with fuel tank specs.  If not, you'll have to measure out the coffin, then account for the height of the tanks topside fittings, and any additional height added to tank should you choose the pascoe method of security. 

When I replaced the tank in my '76 170 I did not have the option of a Moeller due to the unique tank dimensions.  I had an AL tank fabricated, which ended up costing less than a Moeller.

It would appear that the factory installed a 50 gal. aluminum tank below deck which had a cover/hatch over the coffin the tank resided. When you remove the deck, you can then measure (as was stated above) the area and design the tank to fit.

I have a 75 with the original tank. It’s time for me to replace it as it has a few patches on it.  If you give me a little time I’ll take it out, photograph it and provide a sketch with dimensions.
