1978 22-2 Fuel Tank Replacement anti siphon valve

I'm getting ready to install a new 45 gallon Moeller poly tank as part of my 1978 22-2 semi rebuild, I've heard both, use and don't use the anti siphon valve. My feeling is to keep it since it comes with the new tank and I've never had issues with any in the past. Any experiences or advice?? I am switching out the vent and intake lines to keep the fuel pickup line closer to the transom rather than the front of the tank since it is a shallow tank and at lower fuel levels and on a plane there will be more fuel in the rear of the tank.

I had the same question and went ahead and installed a new anti siphon valve when draining my 1999 200 Osprey tank for the off-season at the (stern) advice of my marine mechanic. He did install one made of materials that he said were less likely to corrode and stick. He also noted the tank shifted when empty and suggested I look into that, and find out how it is secured and get ideas for how to fix it, but having posted that subject here, and asking for advice, for some reason no one has replied.
