Aquasport Sea Trials
« on: March 07, 2017, 10:23:31 AM »
:a0003:  I am new here and posted in the engine forum, but I see I probably should have posted here instead since my questions are more general in nature as opposed to just about engine performance.  Message below............

I am within a few days of joining the classic Aquasport family.  I have a deal in place to buy the boat below.  I can't even tell you exactly what model it is because I have not yet learned my Aquasport models yet.  I do know that when I was growing up along the Texas gulf coast, there were many Aquasports and they have a great reputation there.  I live in the Middle East and will sea trial this boat below. The seller just says it is a 21' "American made" boat.  Assuming everything goes well, I will be the proud owner and will be fishing this boat in the Arabian Gulf and hope to fish it in the Gulf of Oman some too as it is much better fishing there than in Abu Dhabi where I live.

The boat has recently been refurbished with new motors, a new fuel tank and it has been painted.

Anyway, I am looking for any guidance you can provide to me on what I should be looking for when I sea trial this boat.  Anything with the boat itself?  What about the motors?  What sort of speed and fuel burn can I expect from them on this boat.  I noticed they have factory props so maybe there are some improvements to be made by re-propping.

Any advice is most appreciated!!

By the looks of the photos it's either a 22-2 CCP or 24-6 CCP.  If the floor is original be sure and check the floor for soft spots.  This is best accomplished by working around the floor bare foot using your heels and toes to explore, concentrate around the areas where screws penetrate the floor. Good Luck!

My bet is it is a 222CCP.  Look for water coming in thru the scuppers (cockpit drains) when she is in the water.

Well the transom is cut for twins but that might have been done later. The 200 was rated at 200 hp while the 222 was rated at 245 hp. The 222 had a wider transom opening.

Can't recall seeing one (CCP) with a high bow rail and the transom/stern area is a "little" different. :ScrChin:

A 200 is 20' while the 222 is 22'-2".
21'? Who knows.

Thanks gents.  I'll be able to take measurements and get some better pictures this weekend.

I could not find any performance data on here for the twin 115's.  Has anybody on here know of a 22 footer with these engines and any thoughts on performance data?
