Rubrail and point of bow damaged.
« on: October 10, 2006, 11:40:52 PM »
I have a 1981 AS 24.6 ccp with a cuddy.I have been restoring it for 8 years.I have purchased a fiberglass kit with gel coat coloring paint that matches.Recently I hit the bow on a dock and now need to repair the glass and reattach the black rubber rub rail.It is my first attempt at repairing a top section of glass. The instructions in the kit are vague. Please spell it out to me in laymans terms.Example.remove rubrail by???...sand the damaged part using 220 paper,or grind out section with a blank,blank....apply filler????Do I use filler in other words...????Apprectiate the advice Thanks, Randazzo N.J

Sorry to hear of your close encounter with the dock.  Can you post some pictures of the damaged area?  That'll give us a better idea as to how to address the repair.  There is damage, then there is DAMAGE...

Eight yeas is a long restoration project; puts you in the Senior Class for staying with AS.
