XF 222 1986 cabin window
« on: December 05, 2016, 09:52:06 PM »
Hello fellows, first time poster looks like a lot of great info on here. Just bought a 1986 Express Fisherman 222 few months back and have been fixing her up. Just got a top made for her and I made a hard top for it. I own a Sign shop with a CNC router so I can make all the parts I need ;-). The top is PVC sign board that I routed out areas were the LED lighting and speakers will go. Also just finshed up a new bow Pulpit CNC routed from Africa Sapele. Iam in need for redoing the cabin windows, the old black rubber outside is shrunk and the windows are leaking. Does anyone know where I could get new rubber for the windows and what the proper way of removing them and reinstalling? Many thanks to you guys

RickK,
Did you ever find the rubber for the windows?  I have a 1985 XF-200 with the same problem.  I'm getting near to the point of painting the top side and would like to follow that up with a window rebuild.  EDK

Actually I never looked for any. I can still slide my windows, with some effort. I shot some lube in the tracks and that helped.

Nice hard top!  I wish I could find on for my Explorer without having to have one made.

As far as the rubber goes, I wonder if you remove the rubber and seal the windows with 3M 5200 and maybe follow that with 3M 4000?  That is most likely what I will do if/when mine start leaking.
