More photos of the rotted out transom and where i made my cut across the liner and the floor to remove inside transom skin.




In this picture the inner skin is starting to pull away from the core. And this was one of the toughest parts to do. This skin was glued on with some blue stuff that was tuff as nails!!!

You can see the blue glue or whatever it is better in this pic. I had to come up with some way to get the inner skin off of this!!!

Finally made some progress against the blue glue!!!

The 2 tools that helped the most. A come along and a homemade chisel with a sharp point. Used that to pound between the core and the inner skin to detach it from the Glue!!!

Also where i did the deck injection was a failure. I am not sure what happened. But the resin never did fully cure!! In these pics you can see how i could put the knife all the way into the core of the floor!

The foam outside the stringers is dry. So that is a plus!

As you can see, she was pretty rotted out. As i was ripping it out you could see water seeping out of the wood!



This was probably the driest piece of wood i removed!

On of the hardest spots to get was behind the knees or the stringers where it attaches to the transom core. These were my choice of weapons and they worked out great. I removed all the wood from the old transom. Now time to start grind and fix a few bad spots!!!

So this is where i am now. I have my template made. i picked up some 1708, some epoxy resin and some 3/4" coosa board for my transom core. No turning back now. And advice is appreciated!!










It looks like i will have to cute back the knees that are on there now. My transom core of 2 pieces of 3'4" coosa will not fit in there unless i trim them back!

Man when you post pics you really post some pics - great progress.  Saving the liner that was on the front of the transom is good - it allows you to transition from epoxy back to poly (gelcoat). Keep it in good shape and then you can glue it back into place and then lam it in.
Cut the stringers back about 18" from the inside transom skin.  That way you can lam the core with 4", 8" and 12" overlaps of 1708..

About your pics - try to remember to take the pics using your phone with the camera lens to the left.  I rotated most of your pics CW 90 degrees - if you take the pics with the lens to the left they will come in correctly when you upload them.

Thanks for the advice! That solves how I will do the transom core where the stringers are. I wasn't sure how far to cut back. But now I have he answer. I am also going to redo the sole where the wood is bad. I will be using nida core for that. Then next winter I will redo the rest of the sole. I am also going to be using a product called trevira mat where any screws need to penetrate the transom. Like for the scupper ping pong balls. So I have to order that.
Also I will remember hat about taking pictures.
