Dual Station Ignition for Yamaha F200

I'm getting prepared to hang a new Yamaha F200 on my 22-2 flatback rebuild. My setup goes like this: engine mounted to Porta bracket on full transom, Seastar Pro hydraulic steering with 2.0 helms and reinforced hoses, mechanical engine controls( Morse style rigged in series from upper station to lower with Xtreme cables).

My dilemma is this:

I would like to have dual ignition sources. Two key switches, two kill switches. Has anyone ever done this with a new Yamaha?
The Yamaha dealer I'm working with called Yamaha support and the word was that with the mechanicly controlled model may only be able to have one ignition source.

Could you piggy-back another key switch and kill switch from the lower station?

At bare minimum I MUST have a kill switch up top but for convenience and safety I want ignition up there too.

i wouldn't do a key on both helms, just install a key on the lower, and splice into the key switch harness, and to momentary push buttons for start/stop, and you can also add a kill switch lanyard tided into the "stop" button.

aaron- that's what I want to do- do you need separate on/off switches for the upper station?
- and which wires on the ignition switch do you tap into?

I am assuming you insert the key and turn it over- but not all the way to crank the motor, (you could if you were on the lower station)... but leave it turned over while on the boat so you can use upper or lower "ignitions"... right?

yes,  for the motor to run, the key on the lower helm needs to be in the "ON" position, how mine is wired, i tapped into the start circuit, it starts the motor by sending 12v to i believe yellow w/red stripe, and to stop is ground to black w/yellow stripe(on mercurys), the right button is start, the left button is stop.
power and ground is supplied from the lower station toa dual buss bar like this one

Thanks Aaron, I believe thats what I'm gonna do. I think I have several options depending on what gauges i go with. I'll keep you posted. Yamaha likes to make it kinda complicated.

if I was using a on-off-on momentary switch, would I need a SPDT or a DPDT switch

(assuming that SPDT means Single Pole Double Throw and DPDT means Double Pole Double Throw)

-While I'm here, I was going to loop into the existing Yamaha ignition switch I have on the lower station- find the wire that sends the power to the starter once the key is at FULL TURN, and split that to run 1 side of the mom switch... then the other side of the switch,, I connect that just to the ground? or what?
