On my way to Ship Island last week, my Yamaha F225 (2003) outboard quit and it would not restart. It will turn over but will not start. The engine quit just like you turned off the key. Didn't sputter, slow down or anything, just shut off!! I checked the kill switch and the lanyard is connected. I checked the fuses on the port side of the motor and they are all good. After being towed in, I talked to a friend of mine that is a pretty good mechanic (but busy) and he said he knows that some Yamahas have trouble with the ignition switch, so I swapped out the ignition switch with my other boat, still no start. As usual, during the summer, all the repair shops on the Coast are four to six weeks out and I am hoping I can find a solution before I have to take it and let it sit for 4 to 6...........
I am not a mechanic, but can replace parts......anyone have any suggestions??
