Steering cable replacement
« on: May 27, 2016, 08:29:57 AM »
I currently have a Morris steering control cable, and would like to replace it with a....Teleflex cable new out of the box...this cable will go on a 90 HP Mercury 2006 model 4stroke......my question is,should I go with the "rack and pinion" or the standard drum style?...I see both on line at about the same prices....will both work,or which is the best for torque?

I'd look into the Teleflex no feed back helm kit. I put one on my 170 last year and I love it. My 90 Ocean pro had some crazy bad torque feedback to the helm. Bad enough that it could yank the wheel out of your hand if you goose the throttle without holding on tite. The kit didn't cost much more than just the cable alone. Now there is zero feedback to the helm and makes driving the boat much more relaxing.
