Hi guys 

Been a little bit since i have been on here or worked on the boat for that matter, I had some truck issues which took precedence. 

Northfork, ive been following your build looks real nice man, im in the middle of nassau county, we usually launch outta freeport. 

So this week we got the stringers cut back with plenty of room to work, and sanded the bejeesus out of it.  This weekend were going to lay the 2 1708s and the chop strand on the transom and when it dries cut the new transom and bond the two sheets together, and depending how far we get might put it all in.   
And Rick, when we put the mat in against the existing skin should i lay a fillet in the corners and the bottom so it had a smooth turn to make or just go right into the corners with it. also, with the overlap onto the bottom of the hull and the sides, what do you guys do with the extra mat, do you fold it or cut it.  Me and my buddy laid a piece after we cut it and didnt know what we should do there.
   And since were going to raise the sides of the transom should we build up the skin before we put the transom in or put the transom in then grind the edge of the outer skin and then lay up new mat on the new raised pieces.

Are you going to build an outside form?  That would help you lay up the higher and filled in transom sides.
Yup, lay in some fillets - it helps the cloth transition the corners. You lay the cloth in dry and trim it in, cutting the corners so they don't overlap but just a little.  Then lay the 2nd repeating the process and then the 3rd.  You want a nice heavy transom skin. 2 may be enough but 3 is better.

Hi all.   Reviving my old thread here just to give it some closure lol,   this is the second year since our rebuild had finished and i love how it came out.  Still some odds and ends to be finished on it but we use the hell out of it and the old 87 suzuki 115 is still to this day the most reliable piece of machinery i have ever had in my life.  Its a little under powered i feel but i cant bring myself to pull it off until she actually quits.

I know, low on the pictures,  we just got into it and kept rolling and I completely fell off of the forum,  I have to dig through my old phone and see if i have some more pictures,  and figure out how to post more than one at a time lol
