The vents are used for ventilation of the hull below the deck. A poor man's blower system.

The hull or the trailer?

A few pics of the "inside" will help to nail it down. :ScrChin:

I get the need for them but why do some have them and others don't? I am in the process of rebuilding this boat and I am not sure if I want to glass over them or not. If it was a factory item, then I might want to keep them for nostalgia if I can find them.

I should have the boat painted and lipped in about a week or so. I cant wait. The inside of the boat looks really nice so far.

Thanks,
I did a quick google search for vents and didn't find anything. Louvers is the magic word.

I can see the benefit of those with an inboard or I/O, but I'm not sure what function they serve with an outboard  :scrHead:

Hull Vents.

There are many types, with louvers being just one.

Do you have a scoop(s) on the bow?

There is no scoop. Ill probably keep them as I don't want to do any extra work. I need to get this boat ready soon. The transom on my key west is getting softer than I would like.

A soft transom on a Key West??? We may be treading dangerously close to heresy. :afraid:

Cut me some slack, its a 1992 hull with a wood transom. Im going to keep it in the family. A buddy is helping me with the AS and in trade I am gonna help him pour a new transom on the KW. I love the KW but I feel the AS has more room and storage. I also think it will perform similar in what I use it for. The beam on the KW is 6'-10".

Just foolin' around. We have a long time member who Admins the Key West Forum.

Rarely comes around anymore but just trying to mess with him if he did.
