Id probably be more inclined to do just one row of those stiffeners, right in the middle.
Should be plenty stiff, the hullsides arent that tall. And less work, materials, fairing, easier to keep clean etc!

You raise some really good points, Dirt.  I'm rethinking.  It's the old questions, kill v overkill?  Perfect is the enemy of done.  I'll take a look at it before I glass the planks in.

Form follows function!    But I think one row will "function" fine, and will be more aesthetically pleasing.  Less work and materials being a bonus...

U will be fine with the vertical struts too im thinking....

Thanks, Dirt.  You helped me unblock my thinking on this.  I'd been planning 2 rows for so long that I didn't see how much better one would be.  At it's lowest the hull side is only 18" and other than a couple of feet forward it averages 19 1/2".

I decided to go with 1 row.  I centered it 9" below the sheer.  This puts it just a touch higher than midway and it looks great.  In addition to all the advantages you mentioned, less work, materials, fairing, it also allowed me to place all joints between planks at vertical stiffeners which will mean even less work.  I'm sure it will be plenty stiff too.

Awesome job man!  Was thinking of a way to stiffen up the sides with a simple core job. Great ideas. I love your flat deck. Really makes you feel safe while fishing up front. Where did you get your Console hatch? did you make it?? I don't have that kind of skill in my shed!

The hatch came from Boat Outfitters.  They do custom hatches, tackle centers, etc.  I'm sure I could build a hatch that would work, but the way they rout the hatch frame from a single piece of starboard, it would end up costing me almost as much in materials as buying ready made.

I have plans to get a tackle center for the transom, a fire extinguisher box and three hatches from them, so they'll be getting a fair share of my money.

The Prisma Planks are slick.  They went in easily.  I was prepared with a bunch of clamps, but only needed to clamp 2 tricky spots.  I applied epoxy to the hull side, wetted out the backs of the planks and waited about 20 minutes for things to tack up.  Then they just pressed right into place and stuck tight against the hull.  Finally, the fronts get wet out and the ears glassed into place.  I did 2 plank sections at a time but could have managed more.  The only tricky thing is, the backs are covered with a grey felted fabric, so there isn't a good visual on when they're saturated.  Will likely prep the port side tomorrow and glass them in Monday.

Still making progress.  I put a wipe of fairing mix on the longitudinal planks and did a preliminary sand.  The forward vertical stiffeners are tabbed in and filled with foam.  I'm looking forward to the end of structural work.  Then it will be a whole lotta sanding & fairing.

I got the aft stiffeners/rod holders tabbed in today, and laid out the aft bulkhead.  There will be a small tackle center flanked by access hatches.  The hatches will make it easy to access the seacock for the livewell drain & fuel/water separater as well as trim tab connections and other stuff.  The tackle center can be removed for rigging and access too. Coincidentally, the UPS driver arrived with the  tackle center and hatches as I typed this.

All I can say is WOW and Thanks , You are doing a superb job . I have learned so much following your rebuild, something that can't be found anywhere else but here .  This has got to be the best boat forum online , I am so inspired, I am thinking I may tackle my soft transom this winter and spring on my '92 210 Explorer. Bravo !!! I have one question ; Did you weigh your boat before you started the work and are you concerned about the weight now ? That's 2 questions .

Thanks SteelHead.  I did not weigh the boat before starting, though I would guess that it weighed more than the published 1900 pounds because of all the waterlogged wood and foam. 

I am concerned about the weight.  I don't want the boat to either gain or loose too much weight.  I took out some weight in removing the liner, fuel tank coffin and through the use of foam and Coosa for the deck and transom.  But I have added some back in the additional bulkheads and foam under the deck, plus the hull side stiffeners.  My console and leaning post will weigh more than the original console and seating, and the bracket will add about 100 pounds.  If the boat finishes out around 2000- 2200 pounds before I add the t top and hang the motor.  I'll be pleased.

Got the aft bulkhead tabbed in today, the front face anyway.  For the joint on the deck, I fabricated an angle out of scrap glass and epoxy.  Then bonded it to the underside of the deck.  Its will serve to seal the foam on the rear edge of the deck and serve as an attachment point for the rear face.  Since the deck ends right at the bulkhead, there was no real place to filet and tab back there.  It required a lot of clamps to pull the bulkhead into a plane.  Once the front face cures, I'll tab in the rear corners.
