Naked Aquasport Bottom

And, here's her backside!

The bottom is stripped clean of gelcoat.  I gave her a detergent scrub too.  Depending on what the weather does, the plan is to seal with epoxy (1layer stock, 1 layer thickened with phenolic micro balloons) ether tomorrow or Saturday.  Then it will be on to fairing.

I got the bottom sealed with 2 coats of epoxy.  The first layer was un-thickened, and the second layer was mixed to a slurry with phenolic micro balloons and a bit of silica.

When cured, the mix sanded easily, especially compared with stripping off the gelcoat.  I got 2/3s of the bottom stuffed up in the time it took me to strip about 4 feet of gel.

Then, I applied Awlfair to the aft 6' of hull.  Tomorrow, I hope to begin sanding, but, we'll see what the weather allows.

Coming along nicely. I wouldn't hold your breath on the weather cooperating tomorrow.

Took the longboard to the fairing mix aft.  After a couple of hours work, everything was down to reasonably fair with some low spots.  I scuffed up the low spots and laid down a bit more awlfair.  Tomorrow, I hope to have things close aft.  Then I'll start working forward.

Yup, Kingston Gray hull and non-skid, Matterhorn white cap & interior.  The paint is waiting for me, a new Mercury 150 Four Stroke too.  I just need to get busy.

The bottom is still pink, but it's getting closer.  Four days of pushing the longboard left my arms feeling like jello, so I took a break from sanding yesterday.  I decided to layout and attach the terminals, fuses, ACR, battery switch and NMEA backbone in my console.

Got the bottom pretty close to fair and smooth, at least as far as I could tell without it being one color.  First coat of epoxy primer is on, and things look pretty good.  I'll get a second coat on tomorrow.  Then, I'll give it a good inspection for any areas that require additional fairing.
