Door for electronics box
« on: April 03, 2016, 10:32:39 AM »
I searched around but did not find anything. When I got my boat, the electronics box under my t top was missing the door. Has anyone attempted to make one or can point me to where I could find just the door cheap? Thanks

Post a pic of the box and we can better judge what needs to be done.
Do you want plexi or something lockable or both?

Looks like it has a recessed lip around the inside - ready for plexi which you can get pretty much anywhere. You need to decide if you want to be able to see through it or not and whether you want to secure it or not. Cut a template from cardboard and go shopping.

I have that exact ebox on my 245.  It is a smoked plexi glass door with a latch on the bottom and a piano hinge across the top.  Not sure who made it.  I know the latch is a Perko latch. Probaly would have to have one made.

I wonder what it would look like if I made a nice door out of wood. Anyone ever try it? Post pics please if so.

I looked to see if I had a pic of my E-box but I didn't find one.  I'll try and get a pic of it.

I stick with plexi, it won't need near the maintenance. also, unless you already have all the original wood trim, I think a wood cover will look like a goofy afterthought.
