Help identifying an Osprey
« on: March 22, 2016, 04:58:05 PM »
I am new to the forum and to boats. I "inherited" this boat,

I really don't know much about Aquasport or the Osprey, but this boat doesn't match any pictures or descriptions of any Osprey that I've found. It is supposed to be a 1991 or 92 model. it is 18'6" long and a beam width of 92". I have not been able to find any papers on this boat yet, no other markings, tags or id. Any ideas if it is an Aquasport? Year? Thanks in advance.

What makes you think it's an Aquasport? look at the hull ID number that is embossed into the transom on the upper port or starboard side. Typically the HIN should start with ASP. They did make some trihulls for pleasure boats but they reminded more of the hulls that Browning produced in the 80's. This one is a different critter. Looks like a nice hull but can't place who made it.

Great information! I have been able to figure out it is a 1994 Osprey. The reason that I thought it was an Aquasport was that every time I googled an 18-1/2 foot Osprey I got hits on an Aquasport Osprey. I did not realize that there was a separate Osprey Boat Company. Have found very little information and no photos of a boat similar to mine. Seems the company went out of business in 1994 but apparently is back in business again. Thanks for the help.
