I have a 2x4 that I have been using for years that is just shy of the height of the bottom of the tongue of the trailer when the jack is all the way up.  I crank the trailer up, put the 2x4 under the tongue and lower the trailer onto it and continue to crank the jack wheel up until I can get a cinder block under it, slide the cinder block under and start cranking the trailer up again.  You can repeat the process with a different length 2x4 for the 2nd block.

I got the tools out last night and prepared to dive into the job. First drill hole surprised me as the thickness of the timber behind was deeper than I imagined. After drilling numerous holes I finally got all the way around and then put the sabre saw in to finish the job off. As expected there was a little water stash in the cavity. Still don't know how it got there but at least I can get to it now. I then Sikka flexed every raw face of timbre I could find and finished installing the inspection plate. Found some low grit sand paper in the cavity other than that it was pretty clean, the water did not smell which was a relief. Pretty happy with the finish however the plate is a little tight to get on and off, hopefully it loosens up with time. Attached are some pics and a few more of the boat for clarification sake.

I think the evidence is right above the puddle. See that water stain coming from the bow eye bolt? I think you just need to re-bed the bow eye with new sealant and you should be good to go. A light coating of petroleum jelly on the Oring and threads on the pie plate cover should help with the stickiness. Now from the pictures, the boat has all the earmarks of a 19-1 not a 19-6. Hard to tell the dead rise from the transom picture because of the dark bottom paint. The 19-1 was a little unique in that it had a little pad or step at the center bottom about 10 or 12" wide and then a very slight deadrise outward, not totally flat like a 22-2 flat back. The 19-6 had a distinct 12 degree V with no pad. You'll have to see more closely which bottom you have. If you look at 19-1's in the forum archives you will see the similarities to your hull. Looks like the rebuild was done very well with extra transom gussets and glass work. I'll bet she is rocket with a 200 on her.

RickK, I am going to do a drop by a few building sites and grab some cinder blocks on the way home and jack her right up. Sarasota, one of the few places in the U.S I have been and I must say I loved it! Wished I had brought a rod!

Yes sir, we do have a lot of water to fish in.  Right now we're battling our annual red tide event though, so no fishing.

Those aren't the same hull designs are they? The strake looks further outboard on the bottom one.

In any case, I dug up some photos of when the boat, that is having its parentage questioned, was first delivered. You can clearly see the "strake" in question. 19-1 or 19-6? Have at it boys!

Exactly what I used to do, worked a treat.
Tristan it does look like that padeye on the stem is the culprit, and leaking...maybe its got yanked loose when you got towed home 5 miles after the Yamaha let go? Just a thought.

It is clear now; you have a 69'-71' 19-1, not a bad thing, just accurate as to what it actually is and by mass production standards, fairly rare with what appears to be a nice rebuild. Where is you fuel tank? Originally it was above deck, under the console or is it now under the floor?

Looks like Fitz nailed it. 
I was looking at the prow - look at the hull front (prow) and sheer of this '70 model


When you follow the chine with the bottom paint it makes the hull look different

Oh, btw - this image is actually a '69 proline - goes to show how the Aquasports were being knocked off, even back then.


So somehow Tristan's boat became about 10 years newer?

Slightly deeper V, no strakes or pad, reverse chine out at the corners of the transom. If you look in 19-6 builds you'll see the difference. Much different boat.
