2005 185 osprey
« on: November 19, 2015, 06:42:53 PM »
Hello All, The guy who shrink wraps my boat has a friend who has a 2005 185 osprey that he may want to sell. I cannot find any info on this boat as far as opinions on ride, spray, and fishability. There is a good chance I could get it for $5000. It has a 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke (I think) a galvanized roller trailer. No top. It looks to be in good shape but it is currently shrink wrapped. This boat appears to be only a one year made due to Aquasport going away. So it is hard to find info on it. I would like opinions on the high bow but lack of rail and the closed transom. Thanks in advance.

What we have for a start.

I can't recall having seen an actual photo of this model over the years and often wondered if it was ever put into production. With such a steep dead rise, it reminds me of a shortened CCP hull. I wouldn't think anything was inherently wrong with the design or build. It's a model that was hoped would spark sales.

Interesting for sure. If you do decide to purchase, photos would be very much appreciated.

Good luck. :thumright:

The high gunnels was a CCP trait though the bow rail was recessed. This has that same basic style but no rail. A number of members have removed the higher rails on their different models to increase fish-ability or allow more room for a bow mount trolling motor.

Bow looks more like a cruiser. Just add a cushion.

Twin lifting strakes.

Euro style transom.

Dogs like the ride.

I would guess it's a sport type runabout that you can fish out of. Not a bad looking hull but it didn't stop corporate from closing the door on the brand.

Good luck. :thumright:

Thank you for the pics and info. I think this boat is just too much of an oddball to deal with and I will keep looking.

Looks to be a great boat for 2-3 people max - otherwise you'll be getting in each other's way.
