Aquasport boat company is being bought out.

I was talking to a Aquasport dealer the other day and I was told that Aquasport is finalizing a deal with Earl Bentz (owner of Triton boats ) for a buy out of Aquasport boats. Early 2016 Aquasport will be moving to Tennessee factory. There they will be adding more old Hydra sport models from 180 to 250...

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the line.

I know all of this buy outs going on with this boat line or boat name. The dealer did say that all of the classic Aquasport molds was destroyed when Genmar went into bankruptcy. So I don't see me purchasing a new classic style Aquasport 175cc. also the dealer said that with Earl Bentz at the drawing board he may come up with something close to the classic line so hold on to that thought......

You mentioned Hydra sport in the first post - is there a connection?

I read that post yet I cannot find anywhere a connection between Hydra-sport and Ebbtide. I see someone mentioned that they bought old AS molds but that seems to be hearsay, as some say they dumpstered the molds. Seems the two companies are owned by different parent companies - Ebbtide is Chinese. Hydra-sport was purchased by Wayzata Investment Partners when Genmar sold it's assets and then bought again by one of their dealers in 2012 - Plantation Boat Mart.
So I still don't see the connection. Was the designer of the HS the current designer of the Ebbtide version?

Ebbtide purchased old Hydra molds. They were not connected to the company.
They use the old molds to make the new Aquas.

Last year when all the rumors were flying about Ebbtide I called up there to get the skinny. I spoke to the CEO about the whole thing. He was a former Genmar management guy. He did confirm they were using Hydrasport hull molds as the BASIS for the new Aquasports but they were changing the deck molds and some other things. They were also going to build them like an true Aquasport with foam filled stringer grid. So they are not a re-popped Hydrasports. The owner of Ebbtide is a Chinese business man but they are not "China" owned.
