Looks like she still has the green rubrail.  If you can clean it up instead of replacing it (like I did  :03:) she'll be more original.
They sure didn't change the liner much in the 6 years since they made the big change.
Doesn't look in rough shape  :thumleft:

What should I be using for materials on the transom and floor??

I am figuring on 3/4" marine plywood doubled up for the transom? For the floor I was wondering if I could get away with 1/2" marine plywood if supported properly.  I am thinking this would be a little lighter.  Whatever the original deck was made of(balsa or a plywood) it appears it was only 1/2" plus fiberglass under and on top of.

Any thoughts?

Correct on the transom.  I used 5/8" a/c plywood when I redid my sole in 98 and it lasted a long time.  Make sure you resin coat it well everywhere though.

Nice looking boat!

They are great boats. Well worthy the work it takes to restore them.
I'm not a pro, but I will help you all I can with what I learned from doing mine.

Welcome aboard!

I'm getting the trailer up to speed right now so i can move the boat around easily. After that I will be getting the saw out and cutting the floor and transom out for replacement. We will see how that goes!!

Went to the CT DMV yesterday and got the trailer registered.  I was dreading going there but happy I went there when I did. It opened at 8am and I got their at 645 and was about number 30 in line.  By 8 am the line winded through the parking lot with :08: about 250 people. I was able to get the trailer registered without an inspection and a 2nd trip back to finalize paperwork and get the plates. I even registered the boat so I dont have to go back there. I was out the door of DMV at about 930.

Is the tag office always that busy?  ::o: or is it only open on Fridays :?:
Sounds like you made the right call.

The CT DMV just redid there computer systems to make it faster and the only thing that came of that was a lot longer waits. They told me that each teller was able to handle 7 people per hour with the old system and now it is down to 3. Its terrible, but the reality of it is they need more help.

Regardless I began ripping into the transom and it came out pretty easy.  It was really bad.

There were parts beneath the level of the deck that came out all the way through. I then cut out the floor so I can get to the back side. I have some more cleaning up to do and plenty of grinding before I start putting anything back together.

I got into the ends of both stringers from the outside and the one on the starboard side was wet.  When I do the deck this will have to be addressed. I removed a bunch of the wet foam.

This should be interesting but I will get it!

This will be an interesting rebuild :thumleft:
What drove you to the decision to cut the aft side of the transom out?

I had helped a friend do one a while back and this is how we did it and it came out pretty good.

However we did not end up going all the way thru to the "bilge" like I did today.

The inner glass was not tabbed into the hull in my case today and was all loose and weak.  The plan at this point is to clean up any loose debris and grind the rest off to clean good glass. I will then put the new transom in and put the old skin back on the outside. Hopefully I will be able to clamp to what is left. Once that is done I will go from the inside and attach the rest of the hull to the new transom.

Then I plan on doing a whole new deck.

Boat was in pretty bad shape so I am taking it one step at a time.

Great to see you are at it.
On my boat, the stringers were water logged as well. A small pilot hole into each stringer will let you know.

Great work!  :thumleft: Are you planning a plywood transom?
