Original location of a 22-2 console?
« on: May 12, 2015, 01:20:29 PM »
Hi everyone,

The previous owner of my boat moved the console in my 22-2 back to within 4 feet of the transom. I am wanting to move it back to the original location. Does anyone have the dimension from the inside of the transom to the backside of the console or edge of the bottom flange?

He also routed the fuel house through the floor up to the top side of my console, so I may have to move that as well when I move the console.

Thanks,
Ben

I don't have a 22-2 so I can't help you but we have plenty of members with '73 and '74s that should pipe in soon.

I would bet it got moved with the 12 degree hulls, but my flatback was originally 71" from the transom. Please keep in mind that the fuel tanks were originally inside of the console too, which is why I think they probably moved them with later boats.

I guess I exaggerated some because my console is 64" from the transom currently. It seems like it's 4 feet away with my cooler seat installed. I am wanting to move the console back where it should have been originally, then install a leaning post.

Once a leaning post is installed, I will fair, paint, and kiwi grip the deck after all holes are patched/plugged. I guess 71" may look about right.

That would be perfect! Thank you!

Another random question, what would be the best way to patch the screw holes on the floor once I move the console forward?  I would try and match up to the existing holes, but some won't be used again. I was thinking of driving a dowel in the hole, then put some epoxy over it or something.

Sorry Buddy just got it home. The distance from the original teak sole of the console to the edge of the small drainage area where the scuppers are is 82 1/2 inches. Hope this helps

Can you measure from the transom also, so we have it for future questions please?

Ok Rick here it is. I measure 86" from the teak base to the inner transom at floor height. If anyone needs any other measurements let me before I tear into this thing.
