I happen to have one of mine out to clear the rigging trough when I had it removed to replace my shift and throttle cables that I could trace on some cardboard and mail to you for a pattern assuming that a 1973 rod rack is the same as a 1981. Mine are the original teak racks. It may get you close to make some. One thing I know is that these racks are like snow flakes; no two are a like! PM me your address and I can send you the pattern. Trace 3 more on cardboard from the I send you and them trim each to fit each location so you will have a good fit. There is also a small heel block at the base of each that dovetails into each rack. the screws to the gunnel near the floor that I can trace also if you like. I'll take some pictures of them and send along also. Let me know....

I built new rod racks when refurbishing my 22-2.  The good news is that they can be made pretty easily, the bad news is that every rack is a different size and shape if you want them to fit snugly under the gunnel and provide some structural support.  The way I did it was to make a cardboard pattern for every rack in every position, then cut the racks out of marine ply using that pattern.  I then laminated thin glass and epoxy onto the racks, and finally installed them with more epoxy and glass.  My gunnels are pretty solid.

Farley is correct! No two are exactly alike. Each evidently was shaved to fit the curve on the liner. In addition each was fitted to the inside of the cap. I too have one of my original ones from my 83 222 if Farley's won't work. Mine are held at the top by one 2" screw that goes through the cap and into the teak. The small curved block at the base by a single 1 1/2 " screw from the backside into the rodholder then 2 two inch screws through the block into the liner (not the deck).

See how they don't fit? I had them in the wrong spots on the hull.
