Fuel line

Is my assumption correct that the fuel line from the bulb to the motor is 3/8s?  And, is there a better fuel line than rubber to use for the connections that sit in the sun and rot?  Maybe some sort of cover to go over them?

You should double check but I believe you are (or should be) running a 3/8" id line on those 150s.

I have my controls (including the fuel line) covered with a plastic split loom to offer some protection and order.

The loom is good for several years and then I replace. Bought it online. If (when) I work on the rigging, I'll use a solid tubing to protect the wires/control lines.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. A lot easier to change the loom than the fuel line I would think!

Here's a very bad photo of my setup.



The use of the split loom allows you to add a minimal level of protection and order without having to disconnect all the cables. I hold the loom in place with cable ties.

Note that the hydraulic steering lines are not within the loom.

Great day in the morning when did fuel line become so expensive?? $5.50 a foot for 3/8" fuel line.  $22 each for new prime bulbs.  I guess they're still using up the high priced oil in making the rubber parts and haven't gotten to the cheap oil in inventory yet!!

The high cost of fuel line and primer bulbs is a direct reflection of legislation, specifically the clean air act. Fuel tank, primer bulbs and fuel hose is required to reduce the amount of permeability to reduce the fuel fumes that will enter the atmosphere. People voted for it now boaters have to pay for it, stupid or not.
