Electrical panel on 98' 175
« on: March 31, 2015, 09:04:43 AM »
Hey Folks,
I'm taking my Dad fishing out of Carabelle Fla and would the boat to work well. He just turned 80.   Hope I can get some of the smart guys to chime in. Here goes. Not getting power to my bait/wash down pump. So, I made access to the panel topside and took a test  light to all of the the little white boxes to the right of the switches. On the bait/ wash down little white box there's power coming into the bottom, but nothing coming out of the top that jumps over to the switch . Can I replace this white box and be good? It looks like once you take that rubber off the white box you can just unbolt? Will the rubber go back on easy?Is there any oem stuff available and where can I purchase some. Am I on the right track? Thanks in advance.

Are the little white boxes breakers?  Is there a little button under the rubber boot?  If so, first try pressing the button to reset it.  Do this while the switch is off and check to see if you now have power to the switch.  Then turn the switch on.  If the breaker trips again, you may have a short or damaged pump.  Or you may have a weak breaker, which would be easily replaced.

This is similar to what you have I'm guessing.

Scroll down around the 16th or so post and take a look at the panel. You'll notice the "white boxes" which are the breakers. Make sure the connections are clean, try and reset as Craig indicated or replace if needed.

The whole thread is worth reading as it deals with electrical problems similar to yours.

Good luck.  :thumright:

PS....... Carabelle eh, down in my neck of the woods.
