New Suzuki 175

Orlando with the black stretched 24' flatback recently asked me to find him a deal on a 175 Suzuki. Through a customer of mine, he was able to buy a new 175hp 25" Suzuki with 6 yrs of warranty for $11,200. The rig kit with binnacle, digital gauge, harness and prop is $1,200 more, but most guys with dual stations would only need the harness and digital gauge. He saved around $1,300 vs. the cheapest FL dealer. It isn't a huge savings, but around 10% under the lowest FL dealer price. If any of you folks want a Suzuki, I will put you in touch with the company that set up Orlando.

I think the Suzuki motors are the bee's knees. The hole shot is great with the big gear case and bigger diameter prop on the 175+. I got 4,100 hours out of my 140 Suzuki before the oil pump failed during the Homosassa Scallopalooza last year. Even though over 2,500 hours were below 1,500 rpm on that motor, I still think I got my money's worth out of that and every other Suzuki I have owned.

The hours are kind of misleading as there were so many hours at idle. When we first got it, I would forget that it was on and leave it running for hours on end in the slip. For youth sailing race committee, safety and coaching boats, it is not uncommon to idle for 8-12 hrs a day following the sailors around. We loaned out the boat for use as coach or safety boat for a lot of youth regattas and a charity summer learn to sail program for kids. They were racking up commercial type hours between the learn to sail program during the week and weekend racing practice over the summer. After a few summers the hours rack up mighty quick.

Anyone running over 40 hrs/wk and says they are doing service every 100 hours is lying. There is no way someone is going to pull a boat onto a trailer and service every other week. You would be changing oil and impellers as often as you cleaned the bottom.

That is a good price, Eugene.  I am leaning towards that motor for my flatback.  I got a price locally for 11,900, which I thought was pretty good, but I don't know if that included a 6 year warranty.  But who knows what prices will be and what other models will be available when I finish my project in 3-4 more years

They are likely selling last year's overstock at that price which does not qualify for the Gimme 6 year warranty program. The base is a 3 year warranty.

There is a Suzuki dealer in Stuart advertising Suzuki 175hp installed for 11,995....Is that the same guy?

I really love my 175. I think it is the perfect motor for the 22-2.

Even all the over stocks come with the 3+3 warranty. Just tell them and they will include to close the deal.
