Thanks for the support!
« on: November 26, 2014, 11:21:54 AM »
Thanks to all the CAS folks for your nice comments and well-wishes for my ankle replacement!  Got er done last week.  Maybe this should be moved to the Rebuilds section?    Anyway, I insisted the rebuild not include any wood, so the doc had to stick with stainless, titanium, and polyurethane.  I think he use lots of 5200 to stick it together and ensure no leaks.  I figured I would be on pain meds and basically horizontal for 2 weeks, but I'm already off the pain meds and moving around pretty well on crutches.  Doc says 4 weeks from surgery to walking in orthorpedic boot, then another 4 weeks before moving to street shoes.  I can deal with that - much shorter than most Aquasport rebuilds!

Again - thanks to all for your positive comments - now I just have to be careful and recover!    Pics below of my "after" x-rays:

Here's an animation of the procedure if you're interested:

Very impressive CJ. :thumleft:

Looks like the top connection (in the tibia) would be a pretty good mounting device for a T-Top.

Broke my leg (tib/fib) really badly about 20 years ago
Now near-zero movement due to "end-stage" arthritis.  Also continual pain due to nerve compression.   So three choices:  amputation, fusion, or joint replacement.  I chose option 3.

I wonder if you picked the peg, might they have thrown in a parrot and a patch.

Hey John
You could have gone with the second choice of your 3 options.......
Then you could change your boats name to ....."Gone Fusion".
