Seems they are taking after the 557 style but I guess they have been redesign by a guy with them over 30 years.

Fly-by-wire, T&T redesigned and tucked away.

Yep, saw a couple a few months ago at Pelican Marine in Hudson (odd, a Yam dealer), one a butt ugly orange to match the orange DC it was hanging on...

They had a few at the boat show in Tampa last month. Kinda cool looking once you get used to them. They come in a variety of color combinations, so you can pick one to "accessorize" your boat.

This is a new design and the first
major
design change in a long time. The old JohnnyRude V-6 motas were 90 degree V-6 blocks that got started with the V-4 blocks in the 1970s. This is a 74 degree block that will be inherently better balanced, smoother, and should be more durable than the old design. I notice all models - 200HP through 300HP have the same 3.4 liter block - so tuning and programming are where the HP difference is. This means the 200 should have great torque and probably be the best value of the lineup. All of them run on 87 octane fuel, so the tuning cannot be over-tweaked like some others manufacturers do...
The styling is, well, uh, different. I think it will be a love/hate thing - some will love it - some will hate it. :batman: But this is from someone with an alien on the transom... :alien:
See ya on the water!

Glow in the Dark,
Thanks for the discussion of the new etecs. I have an 82 25xf with an 89 looper. She still runs great. But it wasn't until I passed 50 that my arthritis started to act up. So the 225 Johnson is 25 years old. Our harbor master says we ought to be looking to repower. So I'm considering an etec225 v. a 4-stroke. I see all the etec claims about quieter, more torgue, lighter(ought to be!), but they also claim 15-20% mileage. Do you have any insight on that. Gary PS: We have a great local guy checked out service the old Girl each spring and Mike said this past May, "She runs great!" So is it still a better deal with her & regular service v. a new motor?

Maine25XF. Late to the gate we love our boat. Others are humbled by the Sally-Carol. We treat her like family, only better! If you have any tips, insights, or positions on the health benefits of two-stroke exhaust, please opine and inform. Gary

Hi Gary,
My
,
If it ain't broke and still "runs great" why would you want to spend $20-25k. My original '91 Yammy 250 (only 2 years younger than yours) on my '92 230 still runs great (knocking on wood) so until something happens I am not dropping a dime on her. $20-25k buys a lot of years of SeaTow for piece of mind and a ride to the dock. Also buys a lot of paint to keep the motor looking good.
