Pulled Miss D first thing this morning and am glad. Arthur has jogged west more than they thought. Eyewall is just 20 miles from Southport as I type.
Heavy rain in squalls. This is the only one I remember with a lot of thunder and lightning.
Several more hours to go....we still have power, but parts of town don't. Heavy flooding too.
Wind not so bad yet. Gusts pass 50, power usually goes out
Gonna take a nap... then have a chat with George by George
addendum: took the nap. Rain slacked up, but wind has picked up substantially.

JJ, Scotty, Garry, JD, you boys have seen this before, you'll see a lot more of them. You all know what to do, and you all know how to make the best of the situation. Be safe, quaff a cold one or 3 (that George is on the rocks, right Scotty?), and we'll see ya on the other side...

50% Dorge Jickle, 50% Sprite....likkers quikker
Blowing hard, raining hard. From the trees it looks like its gusting to around 50+ in the heavy squalls.
This is making me parched....

Parched is not good. Parched means more libations are required...

Guys, a very unusual weather situation tonight for the east coast. A hurricane.....then a powerful frontal system 200 miles west and stretching from northern Fl to Maine.
John, looks like A LOT of dark red on your radar right now.

Looks tough toward Lookout... I expect a turn right, so Hatteras will have a bad night. Goodbye highway 12 - again!

It IS tough towards Cape Lookout, Beaufort/Morehead, Kinston, and even JD's Greenville. Eye of the storm making landfall there in the next hour or so, well west of projection.
It's no wimp. Power on and off many times tonight, gusts around 60. Yard is trashed, but we missed the eye. Thankful and fortunate here.

We're headed down to Southport in the morning
In-laws haven't lost power as of 10pm...Don't know about our property in Carteret county
The property is on the White Oak river, halfway between Jacksonville and Morehead City..It's just a piece of land but hopefully no trees go flying about
Gran hope all turns out well, one of the good things is he picked up speed going by and didn't hang out long in your neck of the woods..JD hope you and the family stay safe thru the night...Got a co-worker with a place on Harkers Island, they expect an almost direct hit unless he changes course some..but he said all is tightened up and the boats are on land and tied down..the Tequila bottle got hit tonight for sure...

John, you're right. Ocracoke Island will be tough tonight.
Gary, thanks very much. We were blessed and fortunate. Yard trashed and some limbs down...we're thankful. House is good, boats are good.
You should be fine going to Southport. They probably had it a bit more intense than we did...the eye came pretty close there..but tomorrow and the rest of the holiday weekend is forecast to be beautiful. High 85, low 71, low humidity, light wind
Your place on the west side of Carteret should be fine. Limbs and weak trees down, hopefully that's it. Picked up forward motion as it left here. Didn't stay and beat the place....most likely good, just some cleanup.
Happy Fourth

Hi Bill, glad you're back!!!
Yep, everything went okay. Lights went our a few times, but came right back on. Got up this morning to the typical yard debris, limbs, etc., ....big mess, we've been working all day on it and just finished.
Whew!
Thanks for checking on us! Hope you guys are all enjoying a Happy Fourth!!
