Raymarine C80 Evermore GPS
« on: July 01, 2014, 11:44:56 AM »
Good day All,
I am trying to connect Evermore GPS to my Raymarine C80 unit,
the Raymarine came with Seatalk cable: ground, red, yellow, green and brown
Evermore GPS SA-320 cable has: ground, red, white, green, black

I have not yet been able to get satellite connections, any suggestions.

thanks
Martin

Dutch, do what I do...call Raymarine tech support.  1-800-539-5539.  Tell them what you've got, they'll tell you wires off the MFD go to what wires on the GPS antenna.  But you had better make certain the C80 is compatible with the Evermore antenna... :thumright:

Just called them and was told by (unfriendly) technician that the Seatalk cable won't work with Evermore GPS
and that I will have to buy a NMEA cable.

Gee, why does that not surprise me?  I deal with the tech support guys from all the different companies on a regular basis, in fact, just got off the phone with Airmar.  Raymarine is by far the worst, followed closely by Furuno.

Unfortunately (that's why I said call), Seatalk will only communicate with a Raystar 120, 125, or 130 antenna, mainly the 125...and they ain't cheap, even used...

Thanks for your reply, is there any specific NMEA cable I should buy or are they all the same for Raymarine.

You need the Raymarine r08004 NMEA cable like this one...http://hudsonmarine.co.uk/index.php?mod ... pid=143038  But finding it is gonna be a beetch.  Almost might be better to get a used Raystar 125 antenna so you can interface it using Seatalk...
