2014 Fire Charity Tourney
« on: June 09, 2014, 02:05:56 PM »
competed with some of my friends this weekend in the Fire Charity fishing tourney out of Bradenton Yacht Club. We were in the off-shore division and did pretty good!
Landed my first Tuna (26#blackfin), Kitty Mitchell Grouper, some mahi, a few other randoms and 3 350-400# Dusky sharks (yes my back still hurts). PERFECT conditions- very light chop and just enough breeze to keep us from sweating to death.

smaller of the grouper grouper I caught- but first Kitty Mitchell...

my first tuna- 26#,,, funnest fighting/running fish I have ever caught!

Team SeaSaw at the scales!

John's 122# Warsaw- his first (and the boat owner's favorite fish)

pete's first Queen Snapper- 28#

oh ya... we won!

I wish Bob! at 1 point over the 3 days, we were probably closer to Cuba than Tampa Bay (not exaggerating). with bouncing around between spots we covered around 450 miles. All our spots were very weird- 1-2 fish and then it would just shut down. weird tides and thermoclimes.

Wow, that's a beautiful screen shot. Like the depth too. 585 at the top of the break to 815 at the base? No telling what's coming up :thumright:

Congrats on a great catch, and first place!

 Bragging rights....plus expenses!

Holy effin GEEEZ!!!!  D@mn dude!  That is the craziest, coolest, and most impressive mixed bag I have EVER seen, and you didn't even post photos of the mahi or sharks!   How far out must you go for those deepwater species out of Bradenton??

:salut:  (there is no "I bow to you" emoticon or I'd use it).  Gongratulations on the type of day the rest of us all dream about.
