1987 170 Striper with Johnson V4 120hp

I believe my prop is spinning.  Last weekend I ran it about 4 miles out in the Gulf just fine.  On the way back in, right as it started to get up on plane, she fell back down and RPM increased by about 300.  I backed off to 2000 rpm and it was fine.  Then I gave her the juice and she did the exact same thing. Sea's at about 2 feet.  I ran back at  2k rpm just fine.  Once in the protected area I briefly ran her up to 4k and she was fine, but I couldn't keep her there for more than 15 seconds or so as I ran up on the no wake zone.

So... I am going to order a new prop.  I have an aluminum one now, with some wear on the ends, so I am not interested in a rebuild at the moment.  So here is the real question.

Any recommendations on size and pitch?

I would, but there is some wear to the blades and a few nicks.  It is an aluminum prop, and I can get a new from from Michigan Wheel for $85.

best bet is take to record top rpm and speed.  take it to a prop shop.  decide if you like performance or rather have more hole shot or top end.  tell them the setup and the recorded info.  buy something in stainless.  they can recommend a good setup for you.  aluminum bends as its turning sacrificing performance.  stainless wont.
