Looking for a hatch cover
«

Had a great weekend on the nauti hooker, found a few problems that can be fixed easily enough, except for one. While running the rear starboard teak hatch broke and flew off the boat. I turned around and tried to find it but no luck. Does anyone have an extra hatch or know where I can get one?

This is the starboard aft hatch on my 1981 200XF that I had. Did it look like this one?

I think he is talking about the cover for the top of the aft covering boards on some CCPs. Some CCPs had areas for stowing things cut into the top of the aft covering boards. Might be hard to find a replacement, since they were only on a few boats. My advice - use the other one as a template and make 2 new ones from Starboard.
Reduces teak maintenance and have you priced teak recently?

Mcdiver, Someone replaced one of the hatches on my CCP with a piece of oak and it looks like crap so Im going to build a replacement. I priced out teak and it was something like $150 for (1) hatch, so I'm going with mahogany instead. The mahogany boards cost me $25 and the hatch itself should be simple to make. With a couple of coats of varnish its hard to tell the difference between the two.

Mahogony works out very well. As you see good teak is 3 times the cost of mahogony and mahogony looks beautiful as well. I would strongly suggest using Sikkens Cetol as the varnish. It is almost foolproof application. It goes on with a brush and dries smoothe and usually without runs. It is pretty tough to screw the application up. It lasts great and dries in a semi gloss. If you need a wet hi gloss finish, they have a hi gloss final coat but this is in addition to the first coats with the cetol. It is $30-35 a quart but it goes on fairly thin so the quart lasts. Touches up really easy with quick sanding and a coat or two.
