Broken Links - SMF pointing to the old phpBB3 site
« on: May 19, 2014, 02:48:06 PM »
Hi guys,

Since 99.9% of you don't know me, I"ll do a quick intro. I'm Avish and I'm the CEO of Evolucix (<!-- m -->http://www.evolucix.com<!-- m -->). I'm the one who did the entire migration of the forum and gallery, etc. from the old server to the new servers that we at Evolucix host. So if you have any problems, just shoot me a PM! Also, if you're in need of anything hosting related or website design/development related, please let me know! I'd be happy to help.

The old server had the link of the forums as "/phpbb3". However, the folder on the server for the forums was "phpBB3". Therefore, I had set the folder to be with the capital letters. I didn't realize that it would screw things up since, as I assumed there were only 2-3 things that had hard-coded links. However, there appears to be multiple things. So to fix this - i'm going to create a symbolic link for 'phpbb3' to change to 'phpBB3' automatically. Therefore, your guys' links and bookmarks should still work.

UPDATE: [3:30PM EST] All old links should now be working. I did a couple of tests and everything looks good to me. Let me know if you guys have any issues. Thanks!

The migration took much longer than I anticipated and I ran into quite a few unexpected issues, so please bare with me as I work out these last few issues post-migration. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Regards,
Avish

Welcome aboard Avish :salut:

Site is running very smoothly and I think I can speak for at least two members here (hopefully the whole site) when I say thanks for the hard work.

On an operational note, the Photo Gallery (which has seen it share of ups and downs) doesn't seem to be auto resizing photos as they are uploaded. Hopefully that's just a tweek.

Thanks again. :thumright:

Seems I have been having trouble following old CAS threads that have links to other old  threads....
Here is one topic as an example:

Tried to click on CB's posted links......got the 'we have moved' message.
Any fix??????

I'm assuming by the topic title, you can visit a number (but not all) of the links in those old threads.

The two shown did work for me. A couple of the "wemausa" links (but not all) within the threads didn't connect. The You Tube vid did.
A workaround for the "wema" link would be to visit the site itself. Also, as I continue to move threads to their new pigeon holes, I try and repair any broken links if possible. When you run across one in your travels, please post here and I'll try and re-connect the link.

Thanks. :det1:

CB,
Not sure we are on the same sheet of music. I was reading Sending unit help....your reply had two links....neither seem to work for me.
These are your links:

Here is the updated link to that whole topic.

CB, since I think you know where the culprit link is, can you update that original link he is talking about please.

If anyone finds broken links, post them here and we'll see what we can do.

OK Aqua, I understand now.
I replaced my old links with Rick's updated ones.

As I move threads around, I'll try and check links and repair as possible. Please continue to post (everyone) any you come across in your searches/readings.

Thanks.

I don't think it is whether someone can get to the old site via the links or not, I'll be deleting the old site eventually so we need to find these old links and update them. That's what I was getting at.  It is weird that the SMF doesn't link to a specific post but to the page the topic is on. Oh well, that's how it works.

Here is the updated link to the Sending unit - I think the name of the topic was changed to reflect the year.
