New owner of an Osprey 175 circa 1990/1991

Hi all,
I'm the new (4th, according to the seller) owner of an Osprey 175 circa 1990/1991 (the seller's ad said 1990 but he said he thought it was a 1991 in person). It has what I assume to be an original Johnson 115 w/ VRO that the seller disconnected in favor of pre-mixing.
Based on the decals and what I guess is a cast aluminum hydrofoil of sorts (!?) with Bob's Machine (Ruskin, FL) engraved on it, it appears to have lived in the Tampa Bay area most of its life, I'd bet.
And based on the good condition,
I suspect it was previously owned by one of you in the forums here
.
It has no other markings that I can find, so far, other than what you see below. It is driving me crazy not knowing the precise model year and history (I'm one of those people). I wish I knew how it came stock, who added what, etc.
I see no hull ID # anywhere yet :(
I'm looking forward to rejuvenating what I can (the wood, some rusty hinges on the CC door, overall cleanup).
This is my first boat. I'm fairly clueless, but I am aggressively learning by the hour, and have some boat-clued friends and family.
Please pardon the leaves and such in the photos. I've not even given her a cleaning yet.

Welcome aboard
Maybe I've been asleep but it's interesting that this year they went back to a single hatch in the casting deck that has 3 compartments inside it. Maybe the Striper package?
The switch panel shows that there was a hatch in front of that as an option too. Yours is obviously aftermarket. I just added the same hatch configuration in my rebuild. Not much room below it but it's some additional storage anyway.

Jeff,
Thanks for the pics.
What we know.
As Rick stated, the single hatch on the casting platform is factory but I too feel the smaller forward hatch is aftermarket.
The switch panel is factory, we have seen this type before.
Decals reflect late 80s early 90s style.
HIN #: Not below the rub rail on the starboard side? Is the pic of the "Continental Marine" on the port side?
Hard to see in this pic but the "indentation" in the upper right just under the rub rail is my HIN location. Typical of 90s models
How about a pic of the yellow decal on the center console below the throttle/shift control?

Ah ha! There it is. Wow, I completely missed the HIN mark. I'll blame it on poor lighting.
The HIN is: OUAD1176K990
Photo of the yellow sticker below throttle to come.
Thanks!

Yup the HIN confirms it is a 1990 model. The transitional graphics of the late 80's ZZ Top style decals without the gray two tone hull also date it to that time frame. The Striper package stickers are interesting since she doesnt have the tackle center on the port side of the console. It's hard to tell in the pics but it looks like there is a starboard cover or something under the rod holders on the port side of yhe console. Maybe the tackle cebter was removed and the hole covered up?

Here's no telling really. The factory could have covered the hole and provided the additional rod holders. You may want to compare the rod holder mounts on both sides (the teak) and see if they are similar. The early nineties were the transition years and with all the "parts" lying around after the switch, who really knows what came out in that first year.
Interesting.

Here's the side of the console and the yellow sticker below the throttle.
It would figure, too, that since Friday night when the seller deliverered the boat (followed me home from water test), I've not been able to get it to start. I won't bother these boat-manufacturer-specific forums with my likely endless newbie engine troubleshooting queries though :)
Do we have any other gathered knowledge of the HIN decoding other than the last 2 digits are model year?

The wood rod holder mounts on the port side are ~1.3" smaller (shallower) than the starboard side. By shallower I mean the depth when standing at the side of the boat looking directly at the side of the console (so the starboard side happens to have more walking clearance in this case).

Good place to start on HIN history.
http://nasbla.org/files/public/Enf%20&% ... 20comp.pdf
We don't have a firm grasp (except what SB can tell us) on the model number/type indicated in the HIN for the different Aqua models. We could (since we have many HINs) try and set up a relationship between the HIN and the model. Never really thought about doing that and of course it would require the help of various members but it 's a thought. As to your 90, it probably is a Striper option model pieced together with the double rod holders in lieu of the tackle center. Just a guess

Last four of the HIN K990 built in Nov of 1989 for model year 1990. First 3 letters of HIN are manufacturer designation, the middle letter/numbers are the manufactures to conjure up how ever they want to
Nevermind, just followed CB's link

OK,
Following this, assuming you may be misreading the letters due to age/wear:
viewtopic.php?p=24772#p24772
The "D" must be a 175 model.
