1972 24' Proline Rebuild.
« on: April 13, 2014, 03:39:47 PM »
Hey Fellas!

New to the forum, my buddy Capt. Matt Mitchell suggested I join. He rebuilt a 222 Aquasport last year and got ALOT of help from all of you. I just got my hands on a 1972 24' Proline "flatback" and she's a beauty.......except she has to be completely rebuilt. Transom, stringers, everything! I'm gonna lean on you boys for awhile, cause you've all "been there, done that". I'll post the picks I've taken so far, any input will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard Jason  :salut:
We've got a few Proline rebuilds going on at this time and there's always room for one more.  Matt did a grand job on his rebuild so I'll assume he'll be on your sidelines with advice.

Hey Fellas,
What density foam should I use for stringers? I ordered 3lb, but fear it may not do.

Capt. Jason,

I used 6lb., 2 inch thick in 4x8 sheets.  I dont know of the noticable differences in 3lb and 6lb.  Some guys have used 3lb with no problems I think.

Would certainly like to see some pictures!

Are you referring to the pourable foam?  It seems that most folks use 4#.  You can probably get by with the 3#, but I would add an extra layer or two of glass to the stringers to compensate.  Just my opinion....
