I'm assuming that is a fiberglass bracket?

Could be a Hermco bracket, but there are some Miami bracket builders...

I would be willing to bet, that the guy set it up and hated it.
He may have removed it all so you could not sea trial her.
Just my thought.

Ditto on what Wing is thinking  :thumleft:
1) The bracket doesn't seem to follow the 1" down for each foot setback (if I remember the rule correctly) - maybe if you put a jackplate on it now.
2) I was looking for where the floor drains drained to - must be a catch basin at best, bilge at worst.
3) The baitwell adds more weight where you don't want it on a 170
4) The boat is now a 16ftr inside (or less)

Otherwise I also think it looks cool

the rule is 1" higher per 12" of setback. A lot of boat's are happy with 1" raise per 6". all depends on the boat.

Well, if the bracket is too high (I'm not seeing that) it's not by much. I would have installed it basically flush with the original cutout and it sure looks pretty close to that.
I always thought that the 1'' per 12" setback was for the height of the motor. Looks like you could achieve that (based on the original transom height) easy enough.

Of course looks can be deceiving.
