so let's just hope the boat doesn't turn out to be as mean as she is.  :P

Dude..........

You mean "the boat has lines as fine as my bride".. And something else got typed 'cause the dadblag computer has a virus. In the keyboard.. RIGHT!!!!!!??

Congrats on the aquasition too

Thanks, and nah, I'm pretty sure she knows she's mean.  Lucky for her she's smart and pretty...cause she'd have never snagged a keeper like me if she weren't at least 2 out of the 3

Got my first question:  the scuppers/drain holes...they're down in a trough across the stern, and the waterline looks like it will consistently be at or above them.  That trough doesn't bother me if it has water in it, and I don't think the waterline would be so high as to actually flood the deck without plugs in the holes, but it does look like it would run into that rigging trough.

Is that normal, or is the boat "overweight" so to speak?  That old 115 Tower of Power pushed her right along, so I don't think it weighs a metric poop ton, but I sure would have thought those deck drains were intended to be above water at rest?

It's pretty normal for older Aquasports scuppers to be close to the water line.  Even a tad under it when some weight is on the stern.  To keep from getting wet feet get yourself a set of TH marine ball scuppers.  They have what looks like a ping pong ball for a check valve that stops water from flowing into the boat while still allowing the decks to self bail.

^^^^^^....What Bruce said.

Regarding the rigging trough...pull the cover and make sure there are no holes in the bottom of the trough leaking to the bilge.

Even a small hole, crack, etc....in the water, in a thunderstorm...or flooded deck situation...she could sink.

From the factory, the bilge was closed....no access, no pumps.

Congrats Ryan!!!  Welcome to the club that have more than 1 Aquasport! What year is the hull? Looks to be around a 73-75. About the scuppers, my 73 has three scupper holes one of which was hidden by the transom clamp on the motor. The ping pong ball scuppers will help a lot but there will always be a small amount of water at rest with them on there. Don't know if you have seen this pic before, in the keys circa 1978 at my friends condo on Knight's key. Yes those are 70 Johnsons on them. We would run them out to the Stream and even with only 70 horses they were fine. Skoot has a 90 Tohatsu on his and the scuppers are right at water level as well. The deepest draft is just in front of the console, not at the transom.

Congratulations!  As stated by Farley, that hull was taken care of over the years and it shows.  :thumleft:

'75 is the best year and Mercs are the best outboards but I'm biased.  :salut:
