It's amazing how many of these people just shrug it off, like it happens every day:

Something happened to me yesterday just like this.

Went to see if the power was back on at the house. A couple blocks down my road, a huge oak limb had just fallen in the road.

Pulled off, got out to move it. It was big...around sixteen feet long, eight feet tall, and about seven inches across at the base. It was straddling the center line.

Grabbed it by the base and began to drag it to the opposite side of the road. I stepped off the road and was heading down towards the ditch, pulling it, when....BAM!!!!!

A kid in one of these little tuners slammed into it from the other direction going at least 50. Jerked it out of my hands, whipped the trunk into my knee, knocked me sideways. The kid never saw it, never saw me, never saw a thing. I was three feet away from being killed.

The impact, the noise...it freaked me out. He never even braked...must have been either drunk, stoned, methed-up, or texting. I didn't stick around to find out...too shook up to deal with it. Got in the car and left. For sure he tore that tuner up.

I'm okay and very lucky and Blessed to be alive.

You know the little import cars with mufflers the size of a trash can that sound annoying but the owner thinks he really has something?

No question about it. I'm still freaked out. And will probably take a while to get over it.

I said some big prayers of thanks last night.

One thing has hit me about this ice storm. We take things for granted. Electricity. Heat. Air conditioning. Running water. Hot water. Television. Smart phones. The Aquanet. A clean bed, clothes, and a home.

We just got power after nearly three days and are back home. I can't help but think of tornado victims....their home and possessions are gone. Nothing to go back to but a half acre of dirt :(

In comparison, this little inconvenience was nothing.

Our life on this earth is just a grain of sand...enjoy, be thankful, and do the right thing.
