NC,
I moved your thread to the Rebuild in hopes that it will also help you and another member doing the same fuel hose replacement on similar models.

Good luck.

Well...I was able to twist the old hose loose. Before pulling it through, I ran a line through the new hose, then through the old hose into the coffin. At the top end of the new hose, I tied off the rope with a metal bar. Also connected the two hoses together using metal wire and duct tape. Lubed up both hoses as well as the inside of the hull wall with tons of that white lithium spray grease. Slowly pulled the old hose out into the coffin with the new hose following behind it while keeping tension on the rope to prevent the hoses from separating from each other. Got it through for the most part. Pulled through pretty easy with the lithium grease.

Thats good news!  Another good lube to use is plain old dish washing soap since it will dry with time.

Success

Had to cut the hole bigger so I could get my hand in to pull the hose through. What a pain in the arse!

Now I'm using some PVC strips to put under the gas tank to keep it off the bottom and let some air circulate.

Sweet!!

Once everything is hooked up, chocked down, etc., consider spraying a little foam around the hoses where they pass through the glass as a chafe guard :thumright:

Hey Master,

Sorry for the delay. I coated the tank in Zinc Chromate (Moeller Brand - https://www.google.com/#q=yellow+zinc+c ... 4733140320).

Picked up a rattle can of it at the local hardware store. Apparently its excellent at preventing/slowing down corrosion on aluminum tanks...especially in salty conditions. Just make sure you spray in an open area away from anyone and wear good breathing protection.

It used to be, in aerospace, EVERYTHING was primed with zinc chromate before painting...
