Boys you have my sympathies!! All we have here now is just cold. as long as you stay south of Bangor and out of the hills the temps are just around 0 during the overnight and as high as 20 during the day...

Couple tricks to add to the "not busting your a$$" bag.. When your walking on icy ground do the 90yearoldgandma with arthritis shuffle, never pick up your feet and you will vastly reduce your chances of landing  on your tail bone or putting a yank in your back.

Saw dust, wood shavings and  plainer tailings make for GREAT traction builder around the house/driveway if you don't have salt. The beauty is that it floats,so as the ice melts and then refreezes, it floats to the top unlike sand that will sink on a refreeze..  Only hazard is all the "other crap" in the shopvac that has been sucked up..    it also will not kill the grass and when it dries up it will blow into the neighbors yard  ..

If you have to drive, no matter how many wheels are driving, (2/4/8) the sumbiscuit won't stop or turn unless you have magic Toyota traction control so be cool with the speed (sorry if I just insulted everyone's intelligence with that Mr Obvious comment, it ain't like there is at least one physics lesson here a week  )

If you just sit there and spin on startup in rear wheel, AWD or 4WD, every so easy, sneak the emergency break on to friction up the back tires the same. They will eventually both grab and get you moving.  Just don't forget to release the e break once you are going. That trick has saved me more then once in the F onefiddy..

I hope this one goes better for the Brethren then the last, the sun is getting higher every day and the geese are heading back north..

It might just be best to follow John's example and stock up on antifreeze and wait it out..

Best to all :salut: l

I resemble that remark!!

You mean my routine of pedal to the metal until smoke/steam comes off the tires doesn't work?     Well dayum...  :x

Thanks Dave for the great advice :salut:

Nasty tonight. Twelve inch icicles, outdoor kitchen froze up tighter than :*:'s hatband. Everything frozen shut...even the trash cans.

Rough day here guys.

Trees dropping from so much ice. Sounded like the Fourth of July. The two big live oaks are both collasped on the roof. Power out since 11 am. No heat.

No power at work either. Could possibly be Sat before restored.

So...we've barged in at my wife's sisters. Hate it, but hotels are full. 60,000 here without power, 500,000 across the state.

CJ, JD, you guys have power?

Take care everybody :thumleft:

Oh Scotty that sucks out loud!!! I hope the linemen from away get there fast and get you squared Away.. Can you get back home and dump your water pressure so the pipes don't break or is it not that cold?
