Flow Max Scupper Size
« on: October 28, 2013, 09:25:40 AM »
Anyone know the appropriate size Flow Max Scuppers for a Osprey 200? I need to replace the old OEM flap type ones that are in my boat. I read somewhere that the Flow Max were the way to go.
Thanks!

FJ Stretch,

I replaced the stock flapper scuppers on my '98 Osprey with Flow-Max scuppers and really like them. I used the FMS-1-0 model for standard 1.25" holes. The only negatives are the weird sound they make at anchor or at the dock as the balls roll back and forth in the plastic cup and the fact that they do get clogged with debris flowing off the deck at times when the boat is on the trailer. I can send you a PDF of the article I wrote on the replacement process for Heartland Boating magazine it you send me your email address. But actually it's very simple -- even the old scupper mounting holes lined-up with those pre-drilled on the Flow-Max!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help and I will get those scuppers.

I think I have bigger problems a-foot. My scuppers are one or two inches below the waterline. Sounds like my foam is wet.

Never mind on my post.  You're talking about the T-H Marine ping pong ball scuppers...

The perils of eBay...
The scuppers arrived. The seller advertised them as TH Marine but what i got was Marpac brand ball scuppers. Are they equivalent or is Marpac a cheap knock-off?

You know Marpac sells a BUNCH of marine stuff, from fuel/water separators, to bus bars, to bilge pumps, to pretty much everything in between.  Some of their stuff could just be re-branded, some could be direct copies of other's stuff, who really knows?

Seeing as the seller advertised them as T-H, I'd give him a chance to make it right while threatening him with an ebay dispute...not good for the seller.

The TH marine are a two piece design with a silicone rubber gasket.  The main body can be twisted off the base to allow easy cleaning of the scupper.  So if your scupper is not four parts (seal, base, body ball). then it is not a TH marine.
