fishbox question
« on: October 16, 2013, 07:49:37 AM »
On my osprey 200, there is a compartment up front that should be a draining insulated fish box. Mine has a hole in the bottom, about 1" dia., that looks to "drain" into the bilge. There is also a round access hatch. Does this sound correct? I can see that the box will drain...right into the bilge! Yuck!

IIRC, the drain for that box should be out the side.  Look for a t/hull adjacent to the fishbox, then pull that pie off and feel what's going on under there...

I opened the access hatch, and there was a livewell aerator pump making in the bilge, still wired and plumbed. It looks like the flange nut is missing. Don't know yet where the wires go, or how the pump is switched on. Pics in my gallery.

Thought there might be a pump in there.  We used that as a fishbox pump out.  Drain (3/4" hose) runs to the base of the pump, then is pumped overboard.  Do you have a fishbox switch at the helm?

Is there per chance a float switch down in that hole as well?
