200CCP: Advice on my boat's value

After months and alot of money worth of work I am interested in possibly trading for something that is more family friendly. We mainly island hop and my wife and daughter have both slipped getting in and out of the boat. We have been using it for the past few months without any issues at all. All of the bugs have been worked out. Here is a list along with some pics. Link to the where it was to there it is now viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10064

Trailer –
•   Both axles and springs, including all hardware, replaced a couple years ago
•   New galvanized heavy duty cross beams welded on a few months ago
•   95% tread on tires
•   Rewired with new taillights and running lights
•   All wheel bearings replaced two months ago
•   New winch
Engine – All worked performed within the last few months
•   Carbs rebuilt and cleaned
•   Annual service performed
•   Throttle body and linkage replaced
•   New shifter rod in lower unit
•   New stator
•   All filters replaced, RAYCOR separator added
•   Engine was completely gone through, including cylinders checked
•   Miscellaneous items replaced that needed it or would have soon
Boat – All work performed over the last 4 months
•   Floor painted
•   Hatch above fuel tank rebuilt with marine grade plywood and glassed in
•   New cushions for the leaning post and coffin box in front of console
•   All teak replaced with starboard
•   Stainless bow rail added
•   All lights working and added a new anchor light to the T-top
•   New bilge pump
•   New steering cable and helm (can steer this boat with one finger)
•   Battery switch added with two new marine batteries
•   Bluetooth marine radio with JBL 6x9 marine speakers
•   Wet sanded, polished and buffed inside and out
•   New stripe and updated logo
•   New gauges and all are functioning properly
•   Fuel tank replaced with all new ethanol resistant lines above and below deck

Good morning,

You've put a lot of work and money in the boat. Some is maintenance which doesn't add so much to value but does contribute to confidence and marketability. The rest is upfit, which does add to price, but unfortunately not per the expenditure.

What year is the boat, motor, and trailer?

Sorry I missed putting that info in the post. It's a 1981 hull, 95 engine and 2006 trailer. The previous owner told me the power head was rebuilt in 2007 when the oil pump failed. It is now premix. He doesn't have the paperwork but I don't have any reason to doubt him because his wife is a very close co-worker of my wife which is how we got the boat to begin with.

As a gauge I can give you my experience buying a 200ccp.

2 years ago I found a 1984 200ccp with 175 Johnson and recent aluminum trailer that was local to me.  The boat was dirty and the hull had two or three significant dings in it.  Floors show cracking gelcoat but seem solid, cushions were beyond repair, boat came with helm chairs AND a leaning post.   Transom seemed solid and a moisture meter readout showed the hull and stringer areas were dryer than a 2005 Regulator I checked.   It was going to need a fuel tank soon.   Generally filthy.

The engine was reported to "run great" but was a 1984 with 1986 powerhead.  Filthy, oily mess.

The trailer was a 2007 Venture aluminum and in perfect shape from the looks.  I found out much later that they never added brake fluid so the brakes didn't work.  Otherwise it was fine.

The owner asked $6000 and I agreed to pay $4500.   With a lot of cleaning the boat was usable for a season during which we had no problems but ignored all the cosmetics.   Last winter I replaced the fuel tank and hoses, relocated batteries and added one, added a battery switch, replaced the bilge pump and added a second with auto capability, added trim tabs and had the water pump and thermostats replaced on the engine.    Within the first couple of runs we blew a head gasket.  I fixed that but will need to repower for next season if I want to have a reliable engine (it's running fine but I don't trust it).  I recently replaced the entire drum brake plates/shoes/wheel cyl and bled the brakes.   I have not addressed the floor or hull gelcoat issues yet.  Maybe next season.

So that's what $4500 buys in CT.   Yours is like a new boat by comparison, at least in cleanliness and obvious owner care.   Maybe try and check the hull moisture at the transome and bottom below the stringers.  That could be a selling point if its pretty dry.  But to me it would be 1) is the hull dry/ transom ok, and 2) how much life is left in the engine?    Those are costly items.  The rest are fixable.

Thank you I think I am going to sell outright and use the money for home improvements and buy another boat next season. My boat is dry, except for a little water here and there from rain, in the bilge and the transom is solid. The floor is solid as well. This boat is in great shape and solid for its age. The stringers were checked when the tank was replaced and those were solid as well.

I am thinking about asking the $4,000 - $5,000 rang. Anyone who buys this boat can immediately drop it in the water and use it. This is not a project. Thanks again for the input.
