We went last Friday and Saturday. Trolled plugs and dusters and caught bluefish and small spanish on Friday. Anchored on a wreck in 35 ft about 5 miles out of Perdido pass for a couple of hours and lost maybe the biggest king I have ever hooked. It ran 200 yards off my baitrunner before I could stop it. It then proceeded to throw the hook. Had a few cutoffs even with 27 lb sevenstrand and headed in. Saturday had a friend and his GF fish with us. He is one hell of fisherman and brought a couple of rods onboard. This will probably be the only time I will ever have a 80 wide Tiagra bent butt planer rod on my boat LOL! He even had a Lindgren pittman with him but I don't have the room and I can't go far enough out to justify having the dang thing on my little boat. Still cool to see a 5000 dollar rod and reel! So on saturday we trolled and actually caught some nice spanish on plugs in 35 ft then ran out to 80 ft and tried the planer rod with no hits. Still a great but hot day and the boat ran great again. ran 30 mph all the way back in 3 to 4 swell with a little chop on top. Really nice ride!
